2012, when Yesterdays was recorded, marked 80 years since Frank began piano lessons at the age of 5. By the time he was 13 he had discovered jazz and was ordering 78 rpm records by the jazz greats through the mail.
Frank enlisted in the Navy the day he turned 18 in March of 1945. Stationed in the Philippines, Frank played piano in the evenings at officers' clubs with musicians from all across the United States, helping him mature into a top-rate jazz pianist.
Though Frank chose not to pursue music when he left the service, he kept up on trends in the jazz world and continued to play for family and friends. At the request of his son, Paul, Frank recorded this collection of classic songs. Frank didn't even need to rehearse -- he's been playing these songs most of his life, and plays them here on piano and organ with the style and grace that mark a master musician.
